Our Geography Trips

Tried and tested Geography residential field trips that enrich classroom coverage of the IGCSE/A Level/IB syllabus and provide opportunities for coursework data collection.

Amalfi Coast, Italy   |   Kenya   |   Colombia

Why take students on a Geography field trip?

For a subject that encourages students to develop an interest and understanding of the world around them, an overseas residential trip can offer an opportunity for students to experience Geography directly beyond the limits of classroom videos, websites or textbooks. The very nature of Geography means not everything may be visible in their home country - so why not visit the locations unavailable at home to experience first-hand volcanoes, tropical rainforests, savanna ecosystems or differing approaches to population and settlement? This can not only work to inspire them to study further, but also help them to develop a broader understanding of syllabus topics currently being taught in lessons. Schools offering annual international Geography-themed trips may also see a greater uptake in students wanting to study the subject in KS4 and KS5.

Geography destinations

For volcanoes and volcanic activity, choose our Amalfi Coast trip to Italy. This trip also offers opportunities to see coastal processes and landforms as well as investigate the impact and challenges surrounding tourism in a popular corner of Italy.

For ecosystems, including tropical rainforest, savanna and desert, as well as mangroves and coral reefs, look no further than our trip to Kenya. This trip also provides an opportunity to see geothermal energy generation in practice, volcanoes and agriculture harnessing volcanic benefits, tourism impact and management and a different take on population and settlement. There is so much Geography in Kenya we would suggest limiting the focal points of the trip - unless you have time for a real adventure!

Look out for a new destination coming in 2025 - Colombia. With volcanoes, earthquake management, dense jungles, deserts and coral reefs, and opportunities to look at a diverse range of settlement development ranging from urban centres to cities inaccessible by road, all populated by some of the friendliest and most welcoming people on the planet, Colombia has something to inspire every geography student. If you are interested in finding out more before we formally launch our geography school trips to Colombia, please get in touch.

We can also customise trips to any of our destinations to focus on specific syllabus areas or allow students to complete coursework.
