Here's a typical 8 day itinerary, from £1,395
Day 1: Arrival
Arrival on Curaçao, transfer to accommodation by bus. Equipment check at the dive centre. Welcome dinner and tour of local area.
Day 2-6: Diving
Our daily routine will see us drive around the island to different dive sites depending on the conditions in a large dive bus, with two dives offered in the morning and possibly an afternoon dive, with night dives also possible depending on experience levels and local conditions.
Any new divers will spend their first day in the pool and classroom at the dive centre perfecting their basic skills. It is strongly recommended that the theoretical e-learning component of any dive course is completed before arrival in Curaçao.
An exciting PADI specialty course is the 'Invasive Lionfish Tracker' that can be completed in one day on Curaçao - help to track, hunt and euthanise this invasive species that is causing havoc to Caribbean reefs. Catch enough and feed the group with a beach barbecue!
The number of diving days is flexible, but 5 days is recommended as being about right for this location. During the surface intervals we will have the opportunity to learn about how coral is being regrown in nurseries to renew the reefs around the island, take part in a sea turtle count as part of the sea turtle conservation project, and enjoy other activities around the island such as snorkeling inside caves and kayaking - or even just relaxing on a beach. The capital of Willemstad is nice to explore by foot too - including a rather unique pontoon bridge.
Day 7: Surface day
For our final full day on Curaçao we will leave the island by catamaran to visit the nearby uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao, with time to relax on empty beaches, explore the ruins (including a lighthouse) and snorkel the reefs.
Day 8: Return
Transfer to airport, return flight to home country. This will be timed to be a minimum of 24 hours following the final dives on previous days.
Extra activities can be added on travel days depending on flight timings, and the entire itinerary can be shortened, lengthened or customised to suit your preferences.
Pricing is based on 20 students with 2 free teacher places, staying in twin share or hostel accommodation, following the example 8 day itinerary. This price includes 11 shore dives, full equipment rental and all national park/marine conservation area fees and taxes. PADI courses and Nitrox come at a surcharge. Divers Alert Network specialist insurance can be provided by the dive centre if needed. International flights are extra. Please contact us for an individual quote for the number of teachers and students you wish to attend.
